Dear Friend,

On Sunday, June 7, I will participate in the Liver Life Walk for the second year in a row at Battery Park in New York City to raise funds for the work of the American Liver Foundation – the nation’s leading nonprofit organization dedicated to liver health and disease prevention. I have formed the Mountaineers, and my personal goal is to raise more than $2000.00 for this worthy cause.

As you may or may not know, I was diagnosed with Hepatitis C in 2001. I developed stage IV cirrhosis and had 6-9 months to live until I received a liver transplant on November 19, 2007. Fortunately things are going well, despite many ups and downs with my health and 2 major surgeries, as well as several shorter stays in the hospital. Today I continue to improve and almost feel back to my old self.

Liver disease is often unknown or misunderstood. Here are some compelling statistics:

· 1 out of every 10 Americans is affected by about 100 types of liver disease.

· That is 30 million people — the number of people in the United States living with diabetes and cancer combined, and the same number of people who live in America’s 15 largest cities.

· 60% of the 26,000 people who die each year from cirrhosis have no history of alcohol abuse.

· Nearly 17,000 people are on the waiting list for a liver transplant.

The American Liver Foundation (ALF) is dedicated to a future where there are effective treatments, cures, and no one dies waiting for a liver transplant. The ALF mission is to facilitate, advocate and promote education, support and research for the prevention, treatment and cure of liver disease.

You can support my efforts by making a tax-deductible contribution to the American Liver Foundation:

Donate online at http://go.liverfoundation.org/site/TR/LiverLifeWalk2009/LiverLifeWalkSpring09?team_id=8880&pg=team&fr_id=1301 or,
Mail a check ( made out to the American Liver Foundation ) to Jordan Fox, 56-33 B 175th Place, Fresh Meadows, NY 11365
Totals will be updated periodically on my web site

If you would like to do more, you can also join our team and set a fundraising goal for yourself. You can register today by visiting www.liverfoundation.org/walk and following the prompts to register for the New York City walk. When you register, you will receive valuable fundraising tools and information from the American Liver Foundation, in addition to your own personal fundraising Web site.

With your help, we will fund important work and raise awareness of these diseases that afflict millions of people. If you have questions about the Liver Life Walk or the work of the American Liver Foundation, please do not hesitate to contact me.

For those of you who know someone who is suffering from liver disease, you know the impact and uncertainty this has on their lives and the lives of their loved ones. If you don't know someone who currently has liver disease, please don't wait for this disease to strike you or someone you know.

Thank you in advance for your support and help me reach my goal. Remember no donation is too big or small.

Sincerely,

Jordan Fox
